Free and fully functional. The STM Accessibility Guide analyzes the actual checkout process of your WooCommerce shop—including a filled shopping cart and the checkout page your customer sees—generates the information required under Section 14 of the German Federal Equal Treatment Act (BFSG) from real-world measurements, and documents every step. No quotas, no blocks, no grayed-out buttons.

🛒
The real shopping routeA product is added to the shopping cart; the cart and checkout are measured with its contents, including error messages if a required field is empty. Classic checkout and block checkout.
📄
The declaration pursuant to Section 14The four components from Annex 3, including the responsible market surveillance authority, are populated with measurement data. Empty mandatory fields stop the generator.
🧭
Lead instead of listingHundreds of findings are grouped into a handful of causes. Each group names the problem, its typical cause, and its solution—and where the color is set.
✋
Honestly at the borderApproximately two-thirds of the criteria can only be assessed by a human. These are presented as unchecked, instead of being tacitly counted as fulfilled — the most important ones as a guided checklist.
📚
Demonstrable, not assertedA self-generating action log. Reports are retained, comparable and printable, with a reference line on the paper.
🔒
No overlay, no cloudNothing is injected into your shop. No cloud service, no external testing interface, no telemetry — everything runs on your server.
🎯
The test benchA weighted score for the condition—critical counts ten times as much as minor. Separated from work progress, and next to it, it indicates which step yields the most points. Undecidable items are not included.
📍
The file, not the category"Your theme renders this" is true, but it's not a specific address. The search is conducted across the theme, parent theme, and plugins: "found" means the file and line number, including the source code and the corrected line for copying. "Not found" is also indicated.

What it is not: a tool that guarantees compliance. Automated rules reliably only meet some of the requirements; whether the result is sufficient for your shop is an assessment that the law leaves to you and, if necessary, your lawyer. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you a con.

Prefer assistance? We'll handle the first pass for a one-time fee of €49 — installation, initial full review, completion of Section 14, and a review of the report. Learn more about the BFSG in our WooCommerce shop.

Three things — and a clear boundary between them

Since June 28, 2025, the Accessibility Strengthening Act has applied to online shops that sell to consumers. The STM Accessibility Guide does three things to achieve this, and it explains the scope of each measure.

  • He checks — the actual purchase journey of your shop, not a list of pages.
  • He creates — the information required by Section 14 of the Federal Fiscal Court Act (BFSG) from actual measured values instead of placeholder text.
  • He documents — a protocol of actions that writes itself, so that the work can be demonstrated and not just claimed.

What he doesn't do is listed further down — in the same place as what he can.

The actual shopping process — with a full shopping cart

Most auditing tools measure a list of addresses. This excludes precisely the part on which your revenue depends: an empty shopping cart is a different page than a full one, and a checkout without error messages is a different checkout than the one your customer sees if they've skipped a required field.

  • A product is added to the shopping cart., and shopping cart and checkout will be with content Measured — including error messages for empty required fields. Classic cash register and block cash register.
  • The page layout comes from what a shop really is: Homepage, shop page, the largest categories, one product per type (basic, variable, reduced), the right-hand pages, a search with a real product word, the 404 page — and the cookie notice as a visitor encounters it.
  • Upon request, the four most important pages can be displayed a second time in mobile phone width.
  • Your own shopping cart will be set aside beforehand and then returned afterwards., and no order can be placed during a checkout process — the checkout step intentionally presses the order button.

Before the exam starts, she explains in words what she's about to look at. So you know in advance what a number will later represent.

The declaration according to § 14 BFSG — based on measured values, not on text modules

Section 14 of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BFSG) requires you to provide information on accessibility, and Annex 3 of the BFSGV specifies the four components that must be included. The Accessibility Guide generates this information—either as a separate page or as a module for your terms and conditions, along with the market surveillance authority responsible for your area.

  • Part c — how to meet the requirements — is populated from real data: the scale, date and scope of the last inspection, and each guided manual criterion that you have judged to be met, with name and date.
  • Empty required fields will stop the generator. No placeholder text will be published on your behalf — a legal document with “Lorem ipsum” is worse than no legal document at all.
  • Whether the result is sufficient for your specific shop is an assessment that the law leaves to you and, if necessary, your lawyer. No plugin answers this question, not even this one.

He'll tell you where the automatic system ends.

Automated rules reliably meet only a portion of the WCAG 2.1 AA (EN 301 549) criteria. Approximately two-thirds of the criteria can only be assessed by a human – whether an order can be reviewed and corrected before the binding click, whether an error message is truly helpful, and whether the keyboard navigation to the account works.

These criteria are listed as unchecked in the accessibility guide , instead of being tacitly counted as fulfilled. The most important ones are presented as guided checklists, one question at a time, with the corresponding location in the shop next to each question.

That's the difference between a tool that shows you a nice number and one that tells you what that number doesn't cover.

A report that leads instead of listing

Seven hundred findings are not a challenge, but a paralysis. The report condenses them into what they truly are—in the case of contrast errors, for example, into a handful of color pairs, of which often three account for half of all findings.

  • Each group explains the problem, the typical cause, and the solution. — and each search result leads directly to the affected page, where “Show on page” marks the exact element.
  • The origin of a color is being investigated. — in the theme options, in the page builder, in the customizer — instead of giving you a hex value and leaving you to figure it out on your own.
  • A finding can be marked as resolved, passed on, or consciously accepted. The next test compares this information against what it measures and records any discrepancy.
  • Reports remain available, comparable, and printable., with an identification line on the paper that specifies the shop, report number, scope and scale.

No overlay. No cloud. No data on the move.

No toolbar is injected into your shop, and no widget is displayed. Overlays promise accessibility at the push of a button; what they deliver is a layer on top of the problem—and in the US, the FTC fined a provider of such promises one million dollars.

The corrections offered by the barrier guide are narrowly defined, standardized , and each one specifies exactly what it changes.

And: everything runs on your server and in your browser. No cloud service, no external audit interface, no telemetry, no customer data leaving your premises. The audit loads each page once—the same load caused by a visitor.

Would you prefer to go through it together?

The plugin is free and fully functional—there are no restrictions, no monthly quotas, and no grayed-out buttons. However, if you'd prefer not to complete the initial process alone, we offer a one-time service of €49 : installation, initial full review, completion of the declaration according to § 14, and a review of the report—so you understand the figures and where to focus your efforts.
