Odoo Agency Hamburg – and the honest question first
Odoo comes with its own built-in shop. Before we discuss implementation, let's clarify the most important question: Is the Odoo shop sufficient, or do you need a standalone shop system? We don't earn anything from licenses, so we can answer this question objectively.
And when it comes to the shop: we connect Magento 2, Shopware 6 and WooCommerce to Odoo ourselves – with the same range of functions that the Shopify connector offers.

Odoo shop or custom shop system? The decision before the project
Most providers answer this question before it's even asked – an Odoo-focused agency recommends Odoo, a Shopware agency recommends Shopware. We've been building shops in Magento, Shopware, and WooCommerce since 2012 and work with Odoo. Therefore, we can leave the question open until the answer arises from your requirements, rather than from our offering.
| This speaks in favor of the Odoo shop. | This speaks in favor of a separate shop system. |
|---|---|
| One system for shop, merchandise management, accounting and CRM – no interface that stops working at night. | The shop is your number one sales channel, and the storefront determines sales. |
| Manageable product range, clear pricing logic, few special cases. | Very large product ranges, complex variations, elaborate search and filtering. |
| The team already works in Odoo on a daily basis – product maintenance remains in one place. | There is an established shop with rankings and structure that one does not give up lightly. |
| The effort should remain minimal: one provider, one contract, one update cycle. | German payment methods such as invoice payment and direct debit should work without any detours – or you can rely on Shopify, for which Odoo provides its own connector. |
What we don't do: sell you a shop switch just because it would be a bigger project. If the Odoo shop is sufficient, we'll tell you so – and the order will be reduced.
Where Odoo reaches its limits in German retail
Odoo is the fastest-growing ERP system in the DACH region. That doesn't make it the right choice for every situation. Three points should be considered before making a decision, not in the second project phase:
Payment methods
Invoice payment and direct debit are standard in German commerce – in Odoo, they often require additional modules. International providers like Stripe or PayPal, on the other hand, work seamlessly. Clarify this before your shop is launched.
Scaling
With high order volumes and very large product ranges, architecture becomes a key consideration. Odoo scales more linearly than abruptly. The exact limit depends on the setup – it's important to be aware of its existence beforehand.
Updates
When upgrading versions, Odoo uploads the database, but not custom code or third-party modules. The more custom logic the system contains, the more expensive each upgrade becomes. Therefore, we deliberately keep customizations streamlined.
What we do with Odoo
Introducing Odoo
From module selection and data migration to training, we set up what you need – not everything Odoo can do. We'll decide between the Community and Enterprise editions together beforehand.
Connecting Odoo to a shop
We connect Odoo to Magento 2 , Shopware 6 , WooCommerce , and Shopify . Products, inventory, prices, orders, and customer data flow bidirectionally via the Odoo External API using XML-RPC and JSON-RPC. A ready-made connector exists for Shopify; we are developing them for the other three. This does not affect the functionality.
Implementing an Odoo shop
If the Odoo shop is the right way to go, we will implement it: theme, categories, variants, payment methods and the legal texts required by the German market – cancellation policy, price information, imprint.
Second opinion
You have a quote for an Odoo house and want to know if it's viable? We'll review it objectively. That's the smallest job we accept – and sometimes the most useful.
We build the same capabilities as the Shopify connector for every shop system.
Odoo provides a ready-made connector for Shopify. For Magento 2 , Shopware 6 , and WooCommerce , there isn't one from the manufacturer – and that's precisely where our work comes in. We build the same synchronization using the Odoo External API. Not as a workaround, but as an equally valid solution with one key advantage: a custom-built connection isn't limited by the standard.
| Data flow | Shopify – connector from Odoo | Magento 2, Shopware 6, WooCommerce – built by us |
|---|---|---|
| Articles and variants | ja | ja |
| Inventory, multiple warehouses | Yes, locations on Odoo warehouses | ja, including its own warehouse logic |
| Prices and price lists | Standard prices | ja, including tiered and customer pricing |
| Orders and customers | ja | ja, in both directions |
| B2B: Customer groups, approvals, net prices | limited | ja |
| Returns, credit notes, partial deliveries | limited | ja |
| Special cases from your business | only what the standard provides | mappable |
The difference, therefore, lies not in the result , but in who builds the bridge. With Shopify, it's already built; with Magento, Shopware, and WooCommerce, we build it – via the documented XML-RPC and JSON-RPC interfaces, with error logging and restart functionality, so that nobody has to manually enter orders in the morning.
And if the Shopify connector is sufficient, we'll tell you so. In that case, you don't need an integration from us, but rather a clean setup – more information can be found on our Shopify agency page.
What Odoo costs – and what we don't earn from it
The Community Edition is license-free, but it lacks manufacturer support and Odoo's cloud hosting. For the Enterprise Edition, publicly stated guidelines for 2026 indicate costs of approximately €25 to €37 per user per month , billed annually, depending on the plan. Only the offer from Odoo or your licensing partner is binding.
We are an Odoo service provider, not a certified Odoo partner . We don't earn anything from your licenses. That's why we can also tell you if Odoo isn't right for you. We charge for implementation based on the time and effort required – after a discussion about modules, data volume, and interfaces, you'll receive a concrete figure, not just a ballpark estimate.
Odoo expert for Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Northern Germany

As an Odoo agency in Hamburg and Odoo experts in Schleswig-Holstein, we work for retailers and medium-sized businesses in the metropolitan region and throughout northern Germany.
Project work is primarily conducted remotely – this is standard practice for ERP projects and saves you travel expenses. The same procedure applies to customers outside the region, only entirely remote.

Frequently Asked Questions about Odoo
Do I even need a separate shop system for Odoo?
Not necessarily. Odoo includes its own e-commerce module, which is sufficient for many catalogs. A standalone shop system is worthwhile if storefront requirements are paramount: very large product ranges, complex search and filtering, established SEO structures, or an existing shop with rankings you don't want to lose. We'll tell you which approach is best for you before we provide a quote.
What are the operating costs of Odoo?
The Community Edition is license-free, but it does not include manufacturer support or Odoo cloud hosting. For the Enterprise Edition, publicly stated guidelines for 2026 indicate approximately €25 to €37 per user per month, billed annually. Ultimately, the offer from Odoo or your licensing partner will determine the price; implementation costs are billed separately based on the time and effort required.
Where does Odoo reach its limits in German retail?
Three issues we encounter regularly. First, payment methods: Invoice and direct debit, widespread in Germany, often require additional modules, while international providers work directly. Second, scalability: With very high order volumes and large product ranges, the architecture becomes a key consideration. Third, updates: Odoo uploads the database during a version change, but not its own code or third-party modules – the more custom logic, the more expensive the upgrade.
Can you connect Odoo to Magento, Shopware, WooCommerce or Shopify?
Yes, all four. Odoo provides its data via the External API using XML-RPC and JSON-RPC. We use this to synchronize products, inventory, prices, orders, and customers in both directions. Odoo also provides its own connector for Shopify; for Magento 2, Shopware 6, and WooCommerce, there is no proprietary connector; the integration is built on those platforms.
Is there a ready-made shop connector for Odoo?
Yes, for Shopify, directly from the manufacturer. Not for Magento 2, Shopware 6, and WooCommerce – for these, we build the connection using the Odoo External API. The functionality is the same: products, variants, stock levels, prices, orders, and customers in both directions. The custom solution adds features not included in the standard: tiered and customer-specific pricing, B2B approvals, returns and partial deliveries, as well as any special cases specific to your business.
Are you working with the Community or the Enterprise edition?
Both are options. The decision is made before the project starts and depends on support, hosting, and the modules you actually need. If you want to work without manufacturer support and handle maintenance internally or through us, the Community Edition will serve you well.
Are you an official Odoo partner?
We are an Odoo service provider, not a certified Odoo partner. This has a practical advantage: We don't earn anything from licenses and can therefore tell you objectively if Odoo is the wrong choice for your project. You purchase the license directly from Odoo or from a partner of your choice.
Do you also manage Odoo projects outside of Hamburg?
Yes. We are based in Tornesch in the Pinneberg district and regularly work for clients in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and northern Germany. Most project work is done remotely, but on-site meetings are easily arranged within the region.

Odoo doesn't suit you? Then let us tell you.
If a conversation reveals that another system would be a better fit, that's not a wasted opportunity. We build online stores using Magento , Shopware , WooCommerce , and Shopify , and have been integrating inventory management systems for Magento and other platforms for years – from JTL-Wawi and SAP Business One to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
