Connecting bexio to the online shop
Over 100.000 Swiss companies work with bexio. The API is openly documented and not tied to partner status – this makes integration simpler than with some other Swiss systems.
There's even a well-maintained extension for Magento 2. Therefore, our work usually involves not building, but rather clean setup – and honestly explaining where bexio's capabilities end.

Is there a Magento interface for bexio?
Yes, and that's noteworthy enough to emphasize. The Adobe Commerce Marketplace offers a bexio connector from a Swiss provider in Rapperswil-Jona: around 350 Swiss francs, last updated in December 2025 , approved for Magento Open Source versions 2.4.4 to 2.4.8 and for Adobe Commerce. It works in both directions – orders, products, customers, invoices, and deliveries.
For most inventory management systems, Magento is the second-class citizen: JTL discontinued its own connector in 2017, Xentral charges extra for it, and plentyONE's dates back to 2018. bexio is one of the exceptions – here, a currently maintained workaround exists.
Shopware has a partner solution, while Shopify and WooCommerce have several providers. The work involved is mostly setup and field mapping, not development.
Where bexio ends
This is the part that a sales conversation rarely includes. bexio is accounting and order processing , not an inventory management system with advanced warehouse logic.
What is bexio sufficient for?
One warehouse location, a manageable catalog, invoicing and dunning procedures, and a connection to the trustee. For a large proportion of Swiss small businesses, this is exactly the right size.
Where it gets tight
Multiple storage locations, batches and expiration dates, order picking, a genuine returns process with reason and credit note, B2B price lists with approvals. Then you need a larger ERP system or a separate warehouse management system alongside it.

What else counts in Swiss projects
- QR invoice. It is created in bexio, but must match the order in the shop, otherwise the payment reconciliation will fail.
- Value added tax in mail order. If the mail-order company in Switzerland generates an annual turnover of 100.000 Swiss francs from small shipments, it becomes liable for tax – this changes the tax logic in the shop, not just in the accounting.
- Trust connection. bexio is closely integrated with trustees. Anyone planning the data flow from the shop to the accounting system should involve the trustee early in the process.

According to its own figures, it has over 100.000 customers (as of February 2026) and over 7.000 trust partners. This makes it the most widespread solution for small businesses in Switzerland. The company is owned by Mobiliar.
Are you a bexio partner?
No. We are not a partner of bexio and do not earn anything from licenses. We set up the connection, build the parts that the standard does not cover, and operate it.
How much does the connection cost?
Less so than systems that require the development of a connector – which is precisely why bexio is at the lower end of our price list. What drives up costs is not the amount of data, but rather the exceptions: special pricing, different tax logic, partial deliveries.
And what if we outgrow bexio?
Switching to a larger system then becomes a separate project, and the shop interface is rebuilt. It's good to know before planning the initial connection: If you anticipate needing multiple warehouses or B2B approvals, you should address this question now rather than paying twice.
