Anyone wanting to have an online shop built will first need a price tag. You can find it here: Our shops start at €3.500, with most projects falling between €12.000 and €20.500. This page explains the differences and how to determine which price range your project falls into.
For 14 years, we have been building online shops in WooCommerce, Shopware, and Magento from our base in Tornesch near Hamburg. During this time, it has become clear that the price question cannot be answered. seriöse This question can only be answered once three things are clarified: the size of the product range, the number of interfaces, and whether data needs to be migrated from a legacy system. Everything else is just guesswork.
What an online shop costs – three orders of magnitude
Entry level: from €3.500
A cleanly set up shop based on standard features. A proven theme customized to your branding, a manageable product range, all common payment and shipping methods, legal texts integrated, and optimized for search engines. This is the right framework if you want to get started and focus on making sales before expanding.
Mid-range: €12.000–€20.500
This is where most projects are located. Typical examples include a custom design, several hundred to several thousand products, customer groups or tiered pricing, integration with the inventory management system , and the migration of existing data. B2B functionalities, ERP integration, and custom development are also common.
Large projects: from €45.000
B2B shops with complex pricing logic, multiple country-specific shops, deep ERP integration, and custom configurators. Such projects always begin with a detailed requirements specification before anyone writes any code.

What the price really depends on
After 14 years in project business, it's almost always the same four points that make the difference:
- Product data. It's not the number of items that matters, but their condition. 5.000 clean, well-organized items from an inventory management system can be added to the shop faster than 300 sprawling Excel spreadsheets with inconsistent variations.
- Interfaces. Each connection to inventory management, accounting or shipping is a small project in itself – especially the question of what should happen if the other system does not respond.
- Individual design. A customized standard theme costs a fraction of what a custom development would. Both can be the right approach, depending on whether your shop needs to stand out or primarily function reliably.
- Migration. Migrating from a legacy system can be planned, but is rarely cheap – especially if customer accounts, order history and old addresses are to be included.
Why an agency from Hamburg?
Building an online shop remotely is certainly possible. The difference becomes apparent later: when inventory management malfunctions, when legal regulations change, or when something goes wrong during the Christmas season. Then it's invaluable to have someone readily available who understands the project's history.
We are located in Tornesch, about twenty minutes from Hamburg. For an initial consultation, we are happy to come to you within the metropolitan area if that is more convenient. Everything else can usually be handled remotely.
This is how a project proceeds
- Initial consultation, free of charge. One hour in which we'll go through your project: product range, target group, existing systems, timeframe. Afterwards, you'll know the scale of your project – even if we don't work together.
- Offer. A description of the scope of services with price – and a section about what not It is included. The second part in particular will save both sides from later discussions.
- Concept. For larger projects, the Specifications, for smaller ones, a structural and design alignment.
- implementation. You see the shop from the beginning on a Test environment and can look inside at any time.
- Testing and go-live. Test orders across all payment and shipping methods, then the switchover – preferably not on Fridays.
- Thereafter. supportUpdates and further development. A shop is not a project with an end date, but a business.
Which shop system is suitable?
We work with four systems and do not recommend any of them across the board:
- WooCommerce – if a WordPress site is already available, the product range remains manageable, and the entry point should be inexpensive.
- Shopware agency near Hamburg – the German standard for medium-sized businesses, strong in B2B and content. From Tornesch, we manage Shopware projects in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
- Shopify – if speed is essential and you prefer to outsource the technical operation.
- Magento – when things get complex: many items, multiple shops, sophisticated pricing logic.
We will clarify what makes sense in your case during the initial consultation – the decision depends on the product range and the processes behind it, not on taste.
The offer: one hour of consultation, free of charge
An hour spent listening, asking questions, and putting things into perspective. No presentation, no obligation. If your project is better suited to a modular system than an agency, we'll tell you – it's more cost-effective for both of us in the long run.
You can find an overview of our entire range of services on the Shop Development page . This page answers the question about pricing – it explains what else we do.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an online shop cost in Hamburg?
A standard online shop starts at €3.500. Projects with custom design, ERP integration, and data migration typically range from €12.000 to €20.500. The price can go much higher, as B2B logic and multilingual capabilities significantly increase the complexity.
How long will it take for the shop to go online?
An initial project can be completed in four to six weeks, provided product data and texts are available. For medium-sized projects, three to four months is realistic. The most frequent cause of delays is not us, but rather missing product images and approvals.
Do you also take over existing shops?
Yes. We take over existing shops for management and modernize them step by step. Often this is a better approach than a complete new build – we'll assess the situation beforehand and give you an honest assessment of what's worthwhile.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes, without conditions. It costs us time and you nothing – and we find out whether the project is a good fit for us.
